WAKAME was the biggest winner at yesterday’s horse racing in Sakhir as favourites won six of the seven features carrying a total cash prize of BD21,000.
Wakame, owned by Abdulla Fawzi Nass, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by Hassan A Saffar, beat Allergic Reaction by five lengths to win the richest race of the day which was for the Rashid Abdularhmnan Al Jasmi Cup for imported horses carrying a cash prize of BD4,000.
Equivalent was third and Feed The Goater fourth.
News Breaker, owned Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Alan Smith and ridden by Brett Doyle, beat Good News by two lengths to win the Zaid Nader Al Jasmi Cup for locally bred horses which carried a cash prize of BD3,000.
Retort was third and Makramah fourth.
Shipyard, owned by Ramadhan Stable, trained by Jaber Ramadhan and ridden by Harry Bentley, beat Misterioso by three-fourth-length to win the Al Jasmi Cup which carried a cash prize of BD3,000.
Donny Rover was third and Steed fourth.
Celtic Man, owned by Ramadhan Stable, trained by Jaber Ramadhan and ridden by Brett Doyle, beat Blood Moon by one-and-one-fourth-length to win the Mohamad Abdulrahman Al Jasmi Cup for imported horses which carried a cash prize of BD3,500.
Upset
Best Dressed was third and Bazaruto fourth.
The only upset of the day was caused by Al Hamdanieh 1637, owned by Al Wasmiya, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by Andrea Fele, when it beat Al Ma’anagieh 1625 by two-and-half-a-length to win the Al Rashediah Stud Cup for Arabian horses which carried a cash prize of BD2,000.
Al Shuwaimeh 1645 was third and Kuheilat Al Adiyat 1654 fourth.
Stevie G, owned by Reem Ali Sameer, trained by Mahmood Jawad and ridden by Ali Samir, gave the favourites a winning start beating Lazzam by three-fourth-length to win the Al Jasmi Cup which carried a cash prize of BD2,500.
Waheed was third and Mohaayedah fourth.
Penelope Pitstop, owned by H and R Stables, trained by Alan Smith and ridden by Abdulla Faisal, followed suit beating Magsood by half-a-length to win the Al Jasmi Cup for locally bred horses which carried a cash prize of BD3,000.
Zalazel was third and Filfila fourth.
