BAHRAINI singing sensation Hala Al Turk’s grandmother has filed a defamation case against Morrocan singer Donya Batma.
She lodged a complaint at the Public Prosecution yesterday accusing Ms Batma of defaming the 14-year-old’s mother.
Ms Batma, who is married to Hala’s father, allegedly insulted the mother on social media app Snapchat.
The family is currently at the centre of a custody battle for Hala and her two siblings.
Their father filed a case against his ex-wife after she was granted custody of the children when he married Ms Batma.
Hala previously appeared in the Sharia Court to urge the judge to overturn the initial ruling because she did not want to live with her mother.
The court will hand out a verdict in the custody case on March 23.
Hala rose to prominence in 2011 when she was selected for Arabs Got Talent – and her latest single Live In The Moment has more than 24 million hits on YouTube.
