Teachers, students and administrative staff will have a longer school year, according to Al Sharq newspaper.
The Ministry of Education has extended the school year for teachers and students by nine and 13 days, respectively, during the first term.
The ministry issued a readjusted school calendar for 2017-2018, abrogating the school “spring holidays”.
During the second term, teachers will have to work nine days more, while students will have 10 additional days.
The ministry has also decided to slash annual school vacations (summer holidays) to 39 days only, down from 45 days at present.
Students will go back to schools on September 10, instead of September 18.
School staff will also have to resume work on August 27, instead of September 4.
