Manama: A St Christopher’s School year 13 student has become one of the first in the world to receive a prestigious United World School’s (UWS) Gold Global Citizenship Badge.
The badge, which recognises and rewards students who prove themselves to be exceptional global citizens, has been awarded to 17-year-old Meeraal Zaheer.
It was in recognition of her numerous acts of community service, including the BD300 she raised with her friend Yasmeen Jassim to help rebuild an earthquake-hit school in Nepal, the mobility aids for dogs she designed and an initiative she spearheaded for breast cancer charity Think Pink.
