Manama: A multi-million dinar agreement has been signed between the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) and property developer KMC.
BDF Hospital royal medical services director Major General Professor Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa received in his office KMC general manager Mohammed Al Shalfan to formalise the awarding of the contract.
Valued at BD21 million ($55.67m), the contract is for a multi-storey clinic and car park building at the BDF Military Hospital at Wadi Al Sail in West Riffa.
To be completed in 20 months, the project will come up on a 6,378 square metre plot of land.
“The project will undoubtedly contribute to the upgrading of medical services offered to defence personnel, their families and citizens and create job opportunities for Bahraini nationals,” said Professor Shaikh Khalid.
The contract was won by property developer KMC following a competitive bidding and evaluation process.
Mr Al Shalfan said the purpose-built clinic and car park building will meet all safety requirements and have all necessary facilities.
“We will execute the project within budget and on time,” Mr Al Shalfan said.
“The project will be green and use processes that are environmentally responsible. It is a good showcase for KMC’s existing and upcoming portfolio and is another example of our commitment to bringing in best practices and standards in the industry,” he added.
The signing was also attended by Colonel Dr Abdulla Salim Al Shrooqi, BDF Military Hospital service marketing and public relations chief Adel Sulaibeekh, KMC senior manager Fadi Al Shaikh and business development manager Ala’a Al Zorba.
