Manama: The BDF Hospital yesterday denied reports, circulating on social media, that it had registered its first swine flu death.
Infectious diseases and clinical microbiologist consultant Dr Manaf Al Qahtani said 1,300 staff at the hospital have been vaccinated over the past three days and urged people to get their seasonal flu vaccine from health centres.
Sixty-two cases of infection, out of 130 samples examined, have been confirmed between September 28 and yesterday, he said.
Patients admitted to the hospital are aged over 50 and suffer from chronic diseases. Their condition is stable but are kept under observation, he told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
