MANAMA: Bahrain Bourse (BHB) yesterday announced the start of the 20th edition of the TradeQuest Challenge for high school students.
Participating students and teams’ school advisers attended a meeting at the bourse’s premises with investment advisers who will monitor and coach the teams during the programme.
The TradeQuest 2017-2018 features 10 government school teams and eight private schools. The private schools are: Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School, Bahrain Bayan School, Bahrain School, Al Hekma International School, Ibn Khuldoon National School, Naseem International School, Al Noor International School, and St Christopher’s School.
The government schools include: East Riffa Secondary Boys School, Al Hidaya Al Khalifiya Secondary Boys School, Al Hidd Secondary Girls School, Al Istiqlal Secondary Girls School, Jidhafs Secondary Girls School, Khawla Secondary Girls Schools, Al Noor Secondary Girls School, Saar Secondary Girls School, Sitra Secondary Girls School, Al Ta’awon Secondary Boys School.
Bank ABC, Economic Development Board, Mumtalakat, NBB, and Tamkeen are platinum sponsors of the programme. Ahli United Bank, Sico and United Gulf Bank have signed up as gold sponsors, while BBK, Gulf International Bank, Investcorp, Khaleeji Commercial Bank and Al Salam Bank Bahrain are silver sponsors.
The programme aims at teaching rules and regulations implemented in financial markets, analysing and selecting shares, and managing a portfolio of investment instruments listed at New York Stock Exchange and Bahrain Bourse.
TradeQuest consists of three trading periods where the schools are required to present their strategy, objectives and performance to the investment review committee at the end of each trading period.
