VIDEO game developers will have the opportunity to showcase their work at a conference to be held in March.
Game Jam will take place on March 1 and 2 and is being held in the lead up to the GCC Game Conference to be held on March 3 at Bahrain Polytechnic.
Both events are being organised by Bahraini video game developer Infiniteware in co-operation with Bahrain Polytechnic.
During Game Jam, teams of developers will be given two and a half days to develop a game based around a theme that will be announced on the day.
The developers will then have the opportunity to showcase their games to publishers and investors attending the conference.
Awards for the top three games will be presented at the conference, with the first place winning BD1,000 followed by BD800 and BD600 for the runners-up.
“The conference is unlike IGN and other events, it’s pure game development, to cater to more people it won’t be strictly technical, there will be a technical tracks and business track for people who want to invest,” said Infiniteware managing director and event organiser Ameen Al Tajer.
“This will be a test bed for these developers; it will put their experiences to the test as they will have two and a half days to get their projects done which shows how talented they are.
“It will also help develop their collaboration and communication skills, which is a big deal that we want to nurture.
“There will be people representing companies from abroad attending the conference, they will see these developers as potential human capital for them that they can hire right away.”
The conference will also feature talks from video game developers from the GCC, along with workshops and an exhibition for games.
Registration is open for anyone in the GCC at gccgamejam.org until February 25. People can either register as teams or individually to be sorted into teams later.
