Sydney: A new trend has picked up in Australia, the number of eyeball tattoo fans is on the rise. In a bid to do something different and standout in crowd, many Aussies have permanently inked their sclera - also known as the white of the eye.
According to News Corp, at least 20 Australians have got their eyeballs inked. The practice is founded by American body modification specialist Luna Cobra. The practice was inspired from an incident when Luna’s friend photoshopped his eyes in an image. The practice involves injecting ink directly into the eyeball, which colours the sclera.
However, the trend has raised a lot of concerns, as doctors have openly cautioned against the hazards of this practice. Medical professionals have warned it can cause blindness and cancer.
'I think it's just becoming a trend among people that just want to be super-extreme. But the worry is that they are just getting anyone to do it — or doing it themselves,' Luna Cobra told News Corp.
