Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Vice Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club High Authority, crowned the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) team as winners of the Range Rover military championship yesterday at Windsor Castle grounds in the UK.
The event was held as part of the Royal Windsor Horse Show under the patronage of HM the King and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
The military showjumping championship was held on the cup of HM the King and the Range Rover Cup.
His Majesty King Hamad deputised Shaikh Isa bin Salman to attend the crowning of the winners.
Shaikh Isa bin Salman was accompanied by Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Duke of York His Royal Highness Prince Andrew and other senior British officials, invitees and equestrian sports fans.
Prize
HM Queen Elizabeth and Shaikh Isa bin Salman presented the Bahrain prize to Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, on winning the Royal Windsor horse race. Trainer Ahmed Janahi received the trophy on behalf of Shaikh Nasser.
The winning team is made up of First Sergeant Ahmed Mansour, Corporal Youssef Moussa, and First Soldier Saber Salman. First Sergeant Mansour was also honoured for winning the showjumping individual category.
Shaikh Isa bin Salman and Shaikh Mohammed congratulated the BDF team members on their winning performance.
Shaikh Isa bin Salman also presented HM the King’s cup to the German winner and honoured the second and third-placed contenders.
He expressed his delight at attending the event, which was held under the auspices of HM the King.
