His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for charity work and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa hailed the first edition of the Saudi Crown Prince Camel Festival, stressing its importance in promoting a long-standing heritage sport.
The debut 2018 edition was held under the patronage of the Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Defence Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa made the statement as he yesterday attended the festival’s closing ceremony in Taif.
Shaikh Nasser hailed outstanding organisation, preparations and capabilities which ensured the success of the festival.
He underscored the importance of the festival which highlighted aspects of the GCC, Arab and Islamic heritage, hailing the Saudi-led strenuous efforts to promote cultural and sport heritage which represent a cornerstone of the identity and history.
Shaikh Nasser wished Saudi Arabia further progress and prosperity, ley by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
He attended, alongside Prince Mohammed the closing ceremony of the camel festival.
The Saudi Crown Prince Camel Festival is the biggest of its kind in the Middle East, with allocated prizes totalling 45 million Saudi riyals. More than 10,000 camels took part in the 40-day festival from Saudi Arabia, the GCC states and Arab countries.
