The Chinese president appreciated the Crown Prince’s gesture, wishing him good health and happiness and the kingdom further progress and prosperity.
Praise for FII
Shura Council president Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh hailed the participation of the Crown Prince in the Future Investment Initiative (FII – 2018), being held in Saudi Arabia. In a statement yesterday, he hailed the Crown Prince’s perspective for the coming period, which aims at reducing spending and restructuring the economy.
International Youth Congress concludes
The International Youth Congress concluded its two-day activities as part of the first International Youth Festival for sustainable development goals.
Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad, the event was represented by youth from more than 90 countries.
UAE ties lauded
Bahrain and UAE share the same views on various regional and international issues, said UAE Ambassador Shaikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan.
The Bahrain-UAE High Joint Committee will hold its eighth session by end of the month, while the UAE Week will take place in Bahrain in December, he added.
Mugging convict in prison
A MAN was sentenced to three years behind bars for mugging another man.
The 27-year-old Bangladeshi was arrested on February 13 for restraining another man and hitting him before stealing BD5 and his ID. The defendant admitted to the charges at the High Criminal Court and witnesses claimed he had a row with the victim before mugging him.
The accused was identified in a line-up after being chased and turned in by the victim’s friends. The defendant will be deported upon completing his sentence.

Elections hotline
MANAMA: A new hotline to protect the elections, due on November 24, from foreign interference or the use of money for negative purposes which was against the country’s national values was launched yesterday. The director-general of anti-corruption and economic and electronic security asked citizens to report such cases on 992 or via email 992@interior.gov.bh. He said his call followed intensive and continuous media reports on the Qatari and Iranian moves to influence parliamentary elections in a number of countries, including recent elections in Lebanon and Iraq, to secure outcomes in favour of those using money to achieve their purposes, ignoring Arab citizens’ right to elect their parliamentary representatives.
Accident victim rescued
FIREMEN rescued a Bahraini man, aged 22, who was stuck inside his car following a collision with a truck on the Shaikh Zayed Highway, nearby Salmabad, yesterday. No further details were available.
