MEXICAN movie chain Cinépolis has opened a new 13-screen cinema in Bahrain.
The Gulf’s first Cinépolis, located at the Atrium Mall in Saar, aims to serve customers in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and will run 70 shows per day starting every 15 minutes.
It also houses Bahrain’s first junior theatre as well as 4D E-motion viewing experience.
It features two large-format screens, MacroXE with Dolby Atmos, object-based sound, and a range of seating options all of which include rocking leather chairs and fully reclining leather seats, along with gourmet food and drink options.
At the opening ceremony, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority chief executive Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa highlighted the value added to the tourism and entertainment sector in Bahrain by launching this significant project.
Bahrain has become the 16th location for Cinépolis, the world’s fourth-largest cinema exhibitor, which operates cinemas in the US, Europe and India.
“The launch of the first Cinépolis Gulf location in Bahrain is a proud moment for the brand and we are honoured to bring our world-class cinema to the region,” said Cinépolis Gulf chief executive Ashish Shukla.
“Our location just off the (King Fahad) Causeway will prove incredibly convenient for Bahrainis and Saudis alike, and we hope we can become a central part of the community for all.”
Founded in Mexico in 1971, Cinépolis is also the biggest cinema chain in Latin America, which caters to more than 338 million guests over 5,707 screens worldwide.
