Manama: Rising electricity and water bills are due to increasing temperatures in June and July compared with last year.
This has resulted in using air-conditioning units which account for the largest part of electric energy consumption, said Electricity and Water Authority Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza.
“Calculation of electricity and water consumption is carried out by meters purchased by the authority. Smart meters, which are compliant with international standards, provide accurate readings at a distance and avoid human errors,” he said in a statement.
Subscribers don’t face power cuts in case they fail to pay their monthly bills.
The authority sends several warnings and takes into consideration families registered with the Labour and Social Development Ministry as well as patients, he added.
