Saudi: The Al Haramain high-speed train network is expected to resume train trips between the cities of Mecca and the Medina via the railway station at the new King Abdulaziz International Airport, on Wednesday.
A huge fire broke out at the Al Salmaniyah station in the city of Jeddah last September, bringing Al Haramain train to a standstill.
The authorities are finalising experimental operations for public safety after the completion of the civil works and the basic infrastructure of the new route.
Work was fast-tracked to complete the new 1.5 kilometre-long double-track route which will be used by Al Haramain train at the King Abdulaziz Airport.
The Al Rajhi Consortium has completed the civil works and the basic infrastructure and handed them over to Al Shula Consortium, which made the rail extensions and the electricity networks.
