The Shura Council is set to re-vote on Sunday (Feb 16) on a new rule that would oblige expatriate runaway workers to buy their own tickets back home or have their relatives pay for their repatriation if they die in Bahrain.
Under further amendments suggested by the MPs, the cost of return or burial will be shouldered by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority should the worker be found not to have money or his family don't want to claim the body within 30 days as stipulated in the 2018 Public Health Law .
