MANAMA: Renowned sports and literary giant Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa has died, aged 82.
Shaikh Isa was most known for his role as president of the Bahrain Football Association, a role which he held from 1974 to 1988 which is the longest anyone has held the position and was later named an honorary president.
He was also chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and served in the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry and held the position of under-secretary in the Defence Ministry and the Information Affairs Ministry.
Shaikh Isa was also a pioneer in the form of traditional poetry and had penned many traditional Bahraini songs.
