Riyadh: Jeddah-based Al Ahli won the Abdullatif Jameel Professional League Championship last night after beating Al Hilal 3-1.
Eduardo scored the first goal for Al Hilal through a header ten minutes into the match, which was played at the King Abdulla Sport City stadium in Jeddah.
The injury of striker Almida disrupted Al Hilal coach’s tactics and rekindled the chances of Al Ahli as its Syrian top scorer Omar Al-Souma netted the equalizer in the first minute of the second half.
The same striker scored the second goal two minutes later, enabling his team to take the lead much to the joy of the green-coloured fans in the stadium.
Veteran Al Ahli midfielder scored the third goal, sealing the final victory of his team to claim the merited trophy.
Its Syrian-born finished the season as top scorer, netting 22 goals.
Champions Al Ahli have totaled 57 points, leaving Al-Hilal six points behind in the second position while the other Jeddah-based Al Ittihad finished third with 49 points.
