A landmark stadium with a seating capacity of 60,000 will be set up at a cost of Dh3 billion ($816 million) inside the Dubai Club in Al Aweer area of the emirate, said a report.
The ambitious project will boast of several key amenities including a training hall, 5,000-capacity car park, a sports museum and conference halls, according to state news agency Wam.
UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum today viewed the project designs and also inspected various models of the stadium.
All elements of sustainability were taken into consideration as the stadium will have green, shaded areas that ensure the comfort of visitors.
The stadium, which will have 23,116 upper bleacher seats, 1,642 seats for VIP suite and another 8,941 VIP seats as well as other 6,688 lower bleacher seats, will be implemented by Perkins+Will, an American architecture and design firm.
The stadium design complies with the soccer's world governing body FIFA's standards, stated the report.
On completion, the Mohammed bin Rashid Stadium is set to become the world's first fully air-conditioned and raised-off-the-ground stadium.
Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Matar Al Tayer, the deputy chairman of Dubai Sport Council, about the landmark project which has Dar Al Handasah as its consultant, said the report.
The Dubai ruler lauded the design and ordered execution of the project according to the scheduled timeline, it added.
