VETERAN Shura Council member Jamal Fakhro has been elected unopposed as first vice-chairman for a record 15th consecutive year.
Jameela Nusaif continues as Shura second vice-chairwoman for a sixth time.
The elections were held today during Shura’s first meeting following the opening of the National Assembly’s third session of the fifth legislative term by His Majesty King Hamad.
Following the session, the elected vice-chairmen joined Shura Council chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh at a general-secretariat meeting to divide the remaining 37 members among the committees.
