Bahrain-based 2 Seas Motorsport cruised nabbed the top prize at the Gulf 12 Hours race, held for the first time at the Bahrain International Circuit yesterday.
Ben Barnicoat led the No 33 McLaren 720S GT3 across the finish line, helped during the race by team mates Martin Kodric and Bahraini co-owner Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
"The team arrived in Bahrain in early December and we ran a successful test programme with the 720S GT3, covering some good mileage and working through different scenarios with the drivers," team director Nick Cristofaro told the GDN.
"The team ran through a number of different programmes, gaining valuable data which definitely helped during this weekend."
With 2 Seas Motorsport acing the GT3 Pro category, Dinamic Motorsport's No 67 Porsche 911 GT3 won the GT3 Pro-Am category, Kessel Racing's No 27 Ferrari 488 GT3 topped the GT3 Amateur category and Villorba Corse's No 90 Mercedes AMG finished at the top of the GT4 category.
Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, first deputy chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and president of Bahrain Olympic Committee congratulated Shaikh Isa on the win on Instagram last night.
