Bahrain is set to host the second edition of the Emirates Falcons Racing International Cup, the Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth) has announced.
The annual championship will be organised in the first week of December in co-operation with the UAE Falcons Federation.
Mawrooth chairman Khalifa Al Qaoud expressed great pride in Bahrain being chosen to host, emphasising that this trust is greatly appreciated and reflects the kingdom’s distinguished organisational reputation and experience in hosting high-quality heritage and sporting events.
“The kingdom’s hosting of this championship, which bears the name of our sister nation, the UAE, is a source of pride and honour,” Mr Al Qaoud said.
“It embodies the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two countries and close co-operation in various fields, particularly in preserving the authentic Arab Gulf heritage and enhancing its presence at both the regional and international levels,” he added.

Further details will be announced through the UAE Falcons Federation’s website and official social media platforms in the coming period, including the technical requirements, registration process, participation categories, races, schedule, cash prizes and regulations.
The Emirates Falcons Racing International Cup is held in accordance with the directives of UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Court Chairman Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and under the patronage of Dubai Second Deputy Ruler and Falconry Sports and Racing International Federation and UAE Falcons Federation president Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Set up in 2018 to preserve Bahraini traditional games and sports, Mawrooth has organised several prestigious traditional events that have been popular among locals and GCC nationals.
Most notable among them is the Nasser Bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season which last year included rowing races, an open water swimming competition, a fishing competition (Haddaq) and the ‘Al Nahham’ sea chanting competition among many more.
It was established by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
