THREE generations from the same family were found to have been infected with the coronavirus after a 69-year-old Bahraini woman tested positive through random testing.
This was revealed by the Health Ministry in its weekly update of cluster cases last night.
Nine positive were found across three different households, all of whom had direct contact with the index case.
Meanwhile, contact tracing of a 33-year-old male expatriate, who tested positive after developing symptoms, revealed 11 cases, all of whom had direct contact with the index case.
“The cases were all work-related. They all work for the same company, despite living in three different accommodations,” said the Health Ministry on its official website.
A 46-year-old Bahraini man tested positive after developing symptoms and through contact tracing, seven positive cases from the same household were revealed. The cases include the immediate family of the index case, all of whom had direct contact with him.
A 36-year-old male expatriate, who tested positive after developing symptoms infected eight others – three had direct contact with him while five were cases of secondary infection.
A 35-year-old male expatriate, who tested positive through random screening, came in direct contact with nine people – all of whom were infected. They were employees of the same company and shared an accommodation.
The average number of Covid-19 cases per day increased to 312.1 last week, compared with 265.6 a day the week prior.
A total of 2,185 cases were registered between January 7 and January 13, of which 1,085 were Bahrainis and 1,127 expatriates.
Of the total cases, 2,106 were local while 79 were travel related. According to the statistics, 618 were close contacts, 550 tested positive after developing symptoms, 786 were registered through random community testing while 152 tested positive after completing quarantine.
