THE Bahrain Chamber (BCCI) has announced a two-week extension for membership registration in its sectoral committees for the 31st session.
Applicants now have until July 2, 2026, to register, a move aimed at maximising participation among business owners and national experts.
BCCI chairman Nabeel Khalid Kanoo said the extension reflects the board of directors’ commitment to strengthening the role of sectoral committees as active partners in economic development.
“Opening nominations is an open national invitation to private sector leaders to become genuine partners in economic decision-making,” Mr Kanoo said. “The Chamber has been, and will remain, the unifying representative of the Bahraini private sector’s voice.”
He described the sectoral committees as a fundamental pillar of the Chamber, tasked with identifying challenges across various industries and proposing solutions to improve the national business environment.
Under the registration criteria, applicants must have proven experience and active involvement in their chosen sector.
Applications are open to both registered Chamber members and non-member national professionals, ensuring a diverse pool of expertise to support the kingdom’s sustainable development.
The committees for the 31st session are structured to ensure fair representation for key contributors to the gross domestic product (GDP), alongside promising non-oil sectors driving national economic growth.
Eligible business owners and professionals are urged to use the extension period and register via the Chamber’s official channels.
Meanwhile, the Chamber is urging old market merchants to register and nominate themselves for its new ‘Old Markets Committee.’
The initiative aims to enhance sector representation, address challenges, and boost competitiveness while preserving the commercial and heritage value of traditional markets.
Eligible locations encompass historical hubs across the kingdom, including the Manama, Muharraq, Sitra, Hamad Town, Riffa, Jidhafs, and Isa Town markets.
Acting as a specialised development platform to monitor merchant needs, this addition brings BCCI’s total permanent sectoral committees to 12 for its 31st session.
Business owners, traders, and practitioners can submit their nominations directly through the official BCCI website.
