The Civil Service Commission was accused by an MP yesterday of continuing to advertise vacancies abroad despite there being capable Bahraini graduates available for the positions.
Zainab Abdulamir said a recruitment advertisement was placed in an Asian country for workers who held diplomas in electrical engineering, despite young Bahrainis, with the specified qualifications gained by studying at Bahrain University, sitting at home desperately seeking work.
“The commission on behalf of the Electricity and Water Affairs Ministry is advertising jobs in an Asian country while 80 Bahrainis were interviewed over a two-year period,” she claimed. “Why didn’t they get employed and what reasons did the commission give for ruling them out?
“This is just another example of job advertisements being placed abroad while Bahrainis with the same credentials, or even higher, are available. Is education and training here in Bahrain a failure?”
She was commenting on one of three written replies to questions on government employment presented by Parliament and Shura Council Affairs Minister Ghanim Al Buainain, who is politically responsible for the commission.
