Riyadh: Saudi shipped 60 tonnes of oxygen to India, just a month after it shipped 80 tonnes to help the struggling nation.
The second wave of the coronavirus disease has proved a deadly blow to the South Asian country, claiming the lives of over 300,000 people, primarily due to a shortage in the country's oxygen supply and a lack of hospital beds.
The oxygen shipment is an expression of “solidarity with a close friend,” Saudi’s ambassador to India Dr Saud Mohammed Al-Sati told Arab News.
“The shipment of liquid oxygen will depart from Dammam on Sunday and is expected to arrive in Mumbai on June 6.
“Many other such shipments will be sent in the coming days and weeks," he added.
