MANAMA: Citizens and residents have been urged to stay vigilant despite the easing of Covid-19 restrictions in Bahrain.
The country moved to the Covid-19 ‘green level’ from yesterday as a result of falling positive cases, but will adopt ‘orange level’ in the interest of public health and safety during the Arafah and Eid Al Adha holidays, starting from Monday to Thursday.
Average Covid-19 positivity rates will again be reviewed following the Eid Al Adha holidays, on Friday, to determine the alert level.
The majority of the people our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej spoke to yesterday expressed their delight at the easing of restrictions.
However, they stressed the need to comply with precautionary measures and hoped that normal life would resume as soon as possible.
They also called for everyone to wear masks in outdoor areas, particularly in markets and on streets, during these three days when the authorities have eased restrictions.
The Covid-19 Alert Level Traffic Light System is based on positivity rates, to guide sector activities across Bahrain.
The system consists of four levels based on the average percentage of cases to tests, in addition to the level of occupancy in intensive care units, as follows:
Green: When the rolling average percentage of positive cases out of tests carried out is below two per cent for 14 days.
Yellow: When the rolling average percentage of positive cases out of tests carried out is between 2pc-5pc for seven days.
Orange: When the rolling average percentage of positive cases out of tests carried out is between 5pc-8pc for four days.
Red: When the rolling average percentage of positive cases out of all tests carried out is 8pc or more for three days.
