SINCE the pandemic began, my wife and I have had to return to the UK on two occasions. Each time we were quarantined for 10 days (11 days if you count Day 0) and had to purchase at great expense, self-test PCR kits for tests on Day 2 and 8.
Due to family commitments we now have to return again to the UK at the end of September.
The government of Bahrain, as always through this pandemic, has responded magnificently when faced with rising cases and deaths. So much so, that reference to the daily figures published in The Guardian newspaper show that Bahrain has much better case and death rates then the UK.
Further analysis of the data shows that most of the countries presently on the UK’s ‘Green List’ are performing way below Bahrain’s ranking. Indeed, many of the ‘Green List’ countries are marked as ‘at risk of moving from Green to Amber’.
As an example, two of the countries who are not marked as ‘at risk’ on the ‘Green List’ are Germany and Iceland. Yet with reference to the table it can be observed that even these two countries’ figures are much poorer than Bahrain.
I would sincerely hope that the UK’s Ambassador to Bahrain is now bringing Bahrain’s position to the attention of the mandarins at the Foreign Office and pushing hard for Bahrain to be placed on the ‘Green List’ at the next review in a few weeks time.
