Tougher action urged against rent defaulters
Pay on time. Create jobs and get rents on time. We cannot bring money from back home and pay our dues here. If we had so much money back home we would have not been struggling here or facing such discrimination every day.
Abu Haya
Reduce the rent according to market capacity, you will not see rent defaulters. Landlords were the first to file cases against tenants without patience during the pandemic; I have come across only a few who have given discounts and reduced the rent.

This is a big joke right?
People don’t have jobs, been on mandatory lockdowns! You are telling expats: “Leave the country”.
I want to see you, when we leave the country who will rent your properties.
You need to stop this selfish behaviour and put yourself in the expats’ shoes!
You need to understand that we all depend on each other. I am extremely lucky to have landlords who have reduced my rent by 50 per cent.
The country is full with empty properties!
You keep rents high, keep your property empty.
Then you will beg people to rent your properties.
Have some awareness and reality check. Property business is no longer profitable!
Times change!

What about companies that are not paying on time? Any tough or smooth action ever? Justice is supposed to be served properly and equally.
@nvn0991
Landlords, tenants, workers – everyone is nowadays reacting to the psychological effects due to Covid-19 pandemic. People can’t travel, expats are distressed as many are planning to return to their countries. On other hand, many are stuck in their countries and can’t return to their work. The one who is benefiting in this situation is pandemic mafia by increasing prices of most commodities causing more psychological and economical stress for everyone.
@rosesmiles4all
Tougher action should be in place against whoever dishonours the contract. Rent payment or service promised.
@syedmoiznaqvi
What? There is pandemic, no work, no salaries, how are people going to pay rent? And then tougher action against those people? Wow!
@mahira.hafiz_
This is tough time due to high bills like EWA, visa fees and other expenses. How will we manage the money? But no one understands the situation, neither the government nor the landlords. What do we do now?
@rohit_kumar_vimal
This is rubbish. Landlords already have a right to do this as per my own experience. Even if the agreement has been followed the landlord is greedy enough to find a way to extract money from the expats. “Wasta”.

Power subsidy reprieve urged
Do you all think this’ll work out positively?
Hassan Karen-Beaudette Gracy
At least they have considered to reprieve; let’s be happy with that.
Ahmed Shamir
They will just agree to increase more.
Hani Karaja
Yes I also got extra bill.
Äsmat Khan
The government is already hanging by a thread. If it lowers the cost of electricity it just means that the government will increase the price of something else or find another way to get money.
@abdulsamad.o2
Imagine if they had to pay the expat rate...
