New Delhi: A 47-year-old Indian man Dattatray Phuge, who shot to fame as “Gold Man” for wearing a gold shirt weighing 3.5kg and worth Rs 1.29 crore, was brutally murdered by a gang of around 10, following a financial dispute in Dighi area, on Thursday night.
Phuge’s son Shubham, 21, who is apparently the eye-witness to the incident, lodged a complaint in Dighi police station after which five persons have been arrested. Phuge’s nephew has also been detained.
The search for the alleged kingpin Atul Mohite, a resident of Dighi, is underway, police said. Mohite, along with his family, has fled Dighi. Those arrested have been identified as Amol alias Balli Kailas Pathare (24) of Mhaske Wasti, Alandi Road, Shailesh Suryakant Walke (26) of Yamai Nagar, Dighi, Vishal Datta Parkhe (32) of Vishrantwadi, Nivrutti alias Bal Kisan Walke (45) of Dighi and Prem alias Kakka Dholpuriya (23) of Bopkhel.
