Zainab Ali Abdulla and Mahdi Bousker have clinched the Bahrain National Day Weightlifting and Powerlifting Championship in the women’s and men’s categories.
Bahrain Weightlifting Association organised the annual tournament at the Golden Tulip, under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The three-day competition attracted 50 weightlifters from Bahrain, other GCC countries, Asia and Europe.
Amina Hassan and Abdulla Salmeen outclassed opponents to win the physical strength championship in the women’s and men’s categories.
GSA vice chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, chief executive Dr Abdulrahman Askar and Bahrain Weightlifting Association chairman Fares Al Kooheji were present.
Shaikh Khalid commended the large participation in the championship and congratulated the winners on their achievements.
