Al Khalidiyah defeated Al Hala 2-0 last night to seal their third victory in the Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League.
The eight-round match, held at the Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in Arad, continued goalless for a major part of the match before Mohammed Adel scored the opener in the 68th minute. Saleh Ratib increased the lead in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
In another eighth-round match, last season’s runners-up East Riffa held off Al Najma 3-2 in an exciting contest.
Al Najma struck first through Ali Munir in the 33rd minute but East Riffa’s Saeed Marjan levelled the scores four minutes later. Luiz Fernando scored in the 55th minute to take East Riffa ahead.
Minir scored his second goal for Najma in the 84th minute but East Riffa’s managed to seal victory when Ali Nasser struck in the final minute of the match.
The eighth-round matches conclude today when defending champions Riffa take on Budaiya at 6.30pm at the National Stadium.
