A Bahraini woman found guilty of drink-driving had her final appeal rejected by the Cassation Court.
The intoxicated motorist collided with a parked car in Nabih Saleh in November, 2020.
“The woman was found in a state of inebriation in a public place, disturbing the residents,” said court documents.
She was found guilty by the Lower Criminal Court in August last year, fined BD50 and ordered to pay BD9,341 damages caused to the parked vehicle.
The defendant lodged an objection at the High Criminal Appeals Court, which upheld the original ruling last September.
The case moved to the Cassation Court last October, where the defendant’s lawyer argued that neither defence nor prosecution witnesses were heard. The defence also attempted to dispute the damages billed by the company, claiming that the amount was inflated. However, the Cassation Court dismissed the arguments.
