This is in reference to the letter “Fees outrageous!” published in the GDN. I am completely in agreement.
I am a regular Bahraini white-collar employee. When I was first employed, I thought that working in Manama would be a very pleasing experience. Soon, it turned out to be not!
Very recently, the parking plot in front of the Regency hotel dramatically increased its rates. We do not have any other option than to struggle and pay about BD90 per month just to park our cars. The prices were fixed for decades.
This unjustifiable increase of 110 per cent on the rates was not expected at all. As a married person, I try to manage my expenses beforehand and put first things first, but I am afraid that it is not an option now. Car wash, fuel and parking together take out 32.5pc of my salary – if I am lucky enough. At the end, I am just wondering if one of the two is right:
1. Having a car is a curse.
2. Working in Manama is a curse.
I would really be grateful if anyone takes initiative and gets my message across to the authorities concerned to review this brutal increase that happened overnight.
