Riyadh: Saudi authorities denied any possible link between an armed robbery targeting a 'cash in transit' company in the Governorate of Al-Qatif and the attempt to smuggle around SR1 million to Bahrain via King Fahad Causeway.
In a statement issued on Friday, Saudi Customs director-general Dhaifallah Al-Otaibi said that the officers searched a car on the causeway, as it was trying to exit Saudi Arabia, and discovered SR983,850 hidden inside the front seats.
Meanwhile, a group of armed men attacked employees of a 'cash in transit' company and robbed them at gunpoint in the village of Al-Nabiya, reported local Arabic daily Al-Riyadh.
The employees who were injured in the incident are being detained pending investigation, said a security source denying any link between the two incidents.
