A MAN jailed for three years for stealing BD1,800 from his wife has lost his final appeal.
The 37-year-old Bahraini bank employee was accused by his Bahraini wife, age 36, of withdrawing money from her bank account without her knowledge.
She said that she initially trusted him to transfer money from her mother’s bank account to her bank account.
However, she added that she later learnt that he had betrayed her trust when she found out that he had withdrawn BD1,800 from her bank account.
The defendant used his position as the bank teller to fraudulently take money from her bank account, she alleged.
The man was jailed for three years by the High Criminal Court in September last year.
He was also fined BD1,800 and a compensation claim was sent to the High Civil Court.
He appealed against his conviction at the Supreme Criminal Appeals Court which rejected his appeal in December.
Following a final appeal, the Cassation Court upheld the sentence.
The woman previously described how her husband used his experience of working in a bank for 10 years to steal her money. The defendant claimed that his wife had filed a false complaint against him because problems had cropped up in their marriage after he confronted her after finding out that her colleague had been sending her pornographic videos.
