Shura Council first deputy chairman Jamal Fakhro, on behalf of the Shura Council chairman and Parliament Speaker, welcomed the holding of the next meeting of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement Conference in Bahrain, on the sidelines of the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), to be hosted by the kingdom in March next year.
Mr Fakhro affirmed keenness to ensure the success of the conference and achieve its goals.
He was addressing the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, under the theme ‘Boosting the role of national parliaments in promoting global peace and sustainable development’.
He asserted that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad Bahrain seeks to promote co-operation and collective action among countries to strengthen the pillars of security and stability across the world.
In his statement, Mr Fakhro also expressed full support for all issues backed by the Non-Aligned Movement, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, in addition to combating extremism and terrorism.
