The Saudi General Directorate of Passports has announced new rules for the issuance of residency permits for dependents of expatriates.
Saudi authorities have said that an expatriate head of family who wants to add his wife and minor children to his residence permit (iqama), the wife must obtain an independent iqama at the cost of SAR500 if her religion differs from that of her husband.
According to a Saudi Gazette report, if an expat couple marries in Saudi Arabia and the husband wishes to add his wife to his iqama, her sponsorship must be transferred to him after submitting a copy of their marriage contract and paying the related fees.
In order to add minor children born in the kingdom to their father’s iqama, the originals and copies of their birth certificates along with a medical report issued by an accredited hospital must be submitted along with the application.
