A man has been named amongst the finalists for Australia's 'Women in Technology' (WiT) award.
WiT is one of Australia’s biggest communities that support women across all fields of science and technology.
For the first time, WiT has introduced a new category called "Inspiring Diversity in STEM" award, which includes male finalist Simon Button amongst three other female finalists A/Prof Kym Rae, Dr Jyoti Sharma and A/Prof Amy Mullens.
The organisation said it welcomed "the inclusion of our first male finalist" and look forward to seeing "more male leaders who support women being nominated in the future".
Inclusion of Mr Button, who is the current group chief technology officer at radiology specialist group Qscan, has drawn the ire of netizens after the announcement.
