Two people have been sentenced to three years in prison by Dubai Criminal Court for robbing a couple and threatening to kill them.
The crime, which took place in Dubai Investment Park area, was brought to light after a man reported that him and his girlfriend had been assaulted by two people wearing hats and masks.
He added that he had also been robbed and that his girlfriend had been run over in the parking lot of his building by the duo, Khaleej Times reported.
The victim said he had tried his best to resist his attacker when he was threatened with a pistol.
He also said that they had beaten his girlfriend and stolen a bag which contained Dh8,000 and personal documents.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend said that she had been threatened with death and that the attackers had tried to kidnap the couple during their scuffle.
The CID team managed to identify both the accused and managed to arrest one of them while the other was tried in absentia.
The two have been fined Dh11,000 and will be deported upon completion of their sentence.
