PROSECUTORS have dismissed a complaint filed against a teacher which claimed that she had attacked a student with a board in class.
This incident was said to have taken place at A’ali Primary Boys’ School last month.
A medical examiner found no injuries on the fourth-grade child, said the Public Prosecution yesterday, following the completion of investigations.
The student’s father who had raised the issue is currently being investigated for filing a false complaint.
“The Public Prosecution heard testimony of the witnesses and questioned the teacher who denied carrying out the attack,” said a statement.
“On the basis of their statements and a medical examiner’s report the case has been dismissed due to lack of injuries and evidence.”
However, the Public Prosecution said that two people will stand trial, the first in connection with posting a defamatory video on social media about the Education Ministry, and the second for filing a false complaint after accusing the teacher of assaulting the child at the school.
The GDN previously reported that the Education Ministry dismissed as false a video circulated on social media showing a picture of a small white writing board with a comment claiming that the teacher had attacked the student with it.
The ministry earlier said an investigation was launched which revealed that the alleged beating incident had taken place on September 15, that is five days before the video and the comment had gone viral.
Students’ testimonies denied that any beating had taken place in the classroom. The teacher didn’t hit the student with the board on the head, they said.
A teacher who was in the classroom said she heard her colleague scolding the student when she asked him to take the board out of his bag and noticed that it was damaged.
She stated that the teacher was only blaming the student for having broken the new board, and that she didn’t witness her beating the student with the board on his head.
