A PARLIAMENT hopeful, who is popular for his distinctive features, submitted his candidacy in the Muharraq Governorate with a promise to prioritise citizens and bring about positive change, writes REEM AL DAAYSI.
Salah Al Ashar, who hopes to represent Bahrain’s largest constituency seven (Arad), is among 12 hopefuls who submitted their candidacy for a Parliament seat in the first two days.
Mr Al Ashar said if he wins, he would focus on unemployment, housing, health and pensions among other key issues faced by citizens.
“My goal is to bring about change and tackle issues that have been pending which are highly important to citizens,” he told the GDN as he submitted his papers at the Al Hedaya Al Khalifiya Secondary School for Boys, Muharraq.
“Unemployment is a key issue as several citizens who graduated with high degrees are still at home, with no jobs.
“We will work hand-in-hand with the government and we are sure they will support us to reach our goal.
“We will spare no efforts because Bahrain deserves our best and we must restore people’s confidence in Parliament and MPs.
“I urge all citizens to vote for Bahrain.”
Elections will be held on November 12 from 8am to 8pm, with a run-off on November 19.
