Bahrain’s national telecommunications infrastructure has been recognised by a global networking intelligence firm for accelerating broadband growth in the kingdom through improved fibre speeds.
Bahrain Network (BNET) was awarded the title during Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (Gitex) 2022 by Ookla.
To certify BNET, Ookla segmented fibre technology types in Bahrain to identify the median upload and download speed increase seen across users of the technology in Bahrain, comparing the second quarter of 2022 to the same period in 2020.
BNET chief executive Ahmed Jaber Aldoseri lauded the efforts to achieve the distinction and conveyed his gratitude to the BNET board of directors as well as its staff members.
Network speed tests are performed exclusively from modern devices capable of connecting to the most advanced communication technologies available in the market.
BNET upload speeds have reported an average increase of more than 206 per cent since 2020, along with a 157pc increase in download speeds during speed tests.
