King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence chairman Dr Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa has stressed Bahrain’s outstanding role in promoting principles and values that advance peaceful human coexistence.
Addressing the ‘Ignorance is the Enemy of Peace’ forum in Rome, he noted the importance of broadening freedom of religion and belief and guaranteeing the right of individuals and groups to freedom of religious belief, choice, and religious rights and responsibilities.
“We are launching the Declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Europe, starting from the Italian capital, Rome,” he said.
“Such a major event attracts a lot of attention around the world. This document expresses the vision and approach of His Majesty King Hamad on the concept of human coexistence. The Declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain is based on principles that are among the pillars of coexistence and peace across the world.”
The declaration was praised by Pope Francis during his historic visit to Bahrain last year as a significant document for advancing human rights and dialogue, he added.
Around 100 students from various universities as well as the King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue, Peaceful Coexistence attended the forum.
