A nationwide effort is underway to repair damaged homes and provide immediate shelter to families affected by the recent Iranian attack on residential areas in Hidd and Sitra.
The initiative follows directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Several homes sustained damage during the attacks, prompting urgent government action to safeguard residents, address their immediate needs and accelerate the restoration of normal living conditions.
Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi conducted a field visit yesterday to assess ongoing repair works in East Hidd Housing Town and inspect fully furnished temporary housing units in Salman Town, designated to accommodate displaced families.
According to officials, the attacks resulted in structural and partial damages to several residential units, leading to the temporary displacement of families. Emergency response teams were deployed immediately to secure affected sites, assess safety conditions and begin initial repair procedures.
The government has since moved swiftly to contain the impact, announcing that it would fully cover repair costs and ensure that all affected citizens are provided with suitable temporary housing until their homes are restored.
During her inspection tour of East Hidd Housing Town, Ms Al Romaihi reviewed progress on maintenance and rehabilitation works, stressing the importance of accelerating completion in line with approved timelines.
“Our priority is to ensure that citizens can return to their homes as quickly as possible,” she said. “Work is progressing at an intensified pace to complete repairs efficiently, in line with the highest technical and engineering standards.”
She added that the initiative reflects Bahrain’s firm commitment to safeguarding citizens’ welfare and maintaining social stability during exceptional circumstances.
“These efforts embody the directives of the leadership, led by His Majesty King Hamad, and the continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to strengthen security, preserve national achievements and ensure quality of life for all citizens,” the minister said.
Ms Al Romaihi emphasised the importance of close co-ordination among relevant authorities to ensure swift and efficient delivery, noting that joint efforts were key to minimising disruption for affected families.
The minister later toured temporary housing units in Salman Town, where she inspected apartments that have been fully equipped and furnished to host families whose homes were damaged in Hidd and Sitra.
“We are working on an integrated plan that addresses all aspects of the situation – from assessing damages to completing repairs, while ensuring families have access to suitable alternative housing during this period.”
The minister highlighted that specialised teams are continuing their work around the clock to accelerate delivery and reduce the impact on citizens to the shortest possible time.
“The full furnishing and readiness of these temporary apartments reflects the government’s proactive and practical response to citizens’ needs,” she added.
“We are committed to providing a safe and stable living environment that preserves the dignity and comfort of Bahraini families.”
Reaffirming the government’s people-first approach, the minister stressed that citizens remain at the heart of all policies and initiatives.
“The citizen will always be our top priority,” she said. “Every effort is being made to ensure their safety, stability and well-being during this time.”
