The Gulf Daily News (GDN) celebrates its 45th anniversary today surrounded by flowers and good wishes, writes managing editor Stanley Szecowka.

The 45th celebration is known as the Sapphire Anniversary and blue is the colour of trust, sincerity, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith and intelligence, guaranteed virtues of the GDN family.
Bouquets of flowers were received, with thanks, from the chairman of the Shura Council Ali Saleh Al Saleh and Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam.
The Speaker of the Council of Representatives also wrote this letter to the GDN’s Chairman and Responsible Editor Anwar Abdulrahman.
