NEW legislations that make nationals the centre of the country’s progress and development, protect their stability and rights, and ensure fair progression and job opportunities will be prioritised by the Shura Council.
A statement on the occasion of International Labour Day or International Workers’ Day celebrated today was read out by the Shura Council’s secretary-general Kareema Al Abbasi during yesterday’s weekly session chaired for the first time ever by second vice-chairwoman Dr Jihad Al Fadhel.
“The Shura Council is proud of all sincere and genuine contributions made by workers in various workplaces and sites, which has significantly contributed to achievements and successes for Bahrain,” said Ms Al Abbasi.
“National workers are our true treasure and the leadership, government and legislators will work to provide all support,” she added.
“New legislations that make nationals the core of the country’s progress and development, while protecting their stability and rights, and ensuring fair progression and job opportunities are in the pipeline.
“Building on existing legislations, which have overcome all challenges and changeable factors, will ensure further increase to Bahrainisation levels, stability to the labour market and better pay.”
Ms Al Abbasi also read out another statement on World Press Freedom Day, which falls on Wednesday, praising the professional, impartial and noble role played by the media in the country.
“The Press in Bahrain is a model for sensibility and responsibility away from any falsification or disinformation,” she said.
“We seek more youth involvement in the field, while also matching the vast progress in global media.”
