Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa has affirmed that the quality, preparedness and efficiency of Bahrain’s education infrastructure are the outcome of the ongoing efforts to enhance the performance of the education sector and its national institutions.
The aim is to achieve the goals of the comprehensive development process, he said.
Shaikh Khalid made the statements while visiting the Bahrain University yesterday to be informed about the developments of the future building of the College of Engineering.
Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak, Works Minister Ibrahim Al Hawaj, Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Yasser Hamdan,, Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi, and Education Minister and university board of trustees chairman Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma and senior officials.
The Deputy Premier reviewed a presentation on the project to relocate the College of Engineering to the university campus in Sakhir, and the advantages of designing its buildings.
The future College of Engineering will be built on a total area of 252,000sqm, and include classrooms, halls, a library, modern workshops, well-equipped laboratories and four auditoriums, in addition to a large multi-purpose hall and parking lots. It will also contribute to developing the region’s infrastructure and facilities that serve students.
Shaikh Khalid indicated that the new premises will pave the way for a new start for the engineering work, given the capabilities that the college will provide to students and those working in engineering specialisations upon its completion and beginning of its operation.
He added that the college project is a distinctive step towards more creativity and innovation, based on the advanced key components it will provide to the sector.
