MPs approve 2pc tax on expat remittances
Fantastic, even though unlikely to be approved.
@akj477
Wow ... make it 50 per cent.
@sureshbroadcastmedia
This should be applied to an amount that exceeds a certain limit. Not to small remittances. Some people have a very low salary and they are sending the amount to their families back home. The impact will not be good on low-income groups.
@hummingbirddesign2024
Have a heart, MPs. Why not also suggest an increase in expat salaries so that we don’t oppose all these taxes you want to impose on us. Some would probably say go back to your own country if you don’t like it but do you even realise the weight of such words?
@acel.roca
Soon Bahrain will have empty buildings as expatriates have already started moving out. This decision will not help the economy but will bring a great hit-back.
@ginzy_mat
Bahrain needs to touch base on the immigration problem hiring expats whose salary are lower than BD150 or BD100 before imposing such ridiculous taxes.
@relaxingwave
Already spending more ... now this ... it’s going to be very hard to save something.
@karrhikji
Loot at its best.
@naveenantony29
This is unfair; salary doesn’t increase. Poor expats.
@mitchxieko
Not fair. Expats are as it is struggling to make ends meet with the rapidly increasing cost of living.
@mrmystified
Why not take the entire salary from expats?
@prithamsmarshall
Hopefully, we get a six-months heads-up on when this will start.
@javsy
Very, very unfair.
@hirolibhartiya
Now it’s a should-I-stay-or-should-I-leave decision.
