A 43-year-old mother in Ras Al Khaimah has been granted custody of her 10 children following her second divorce from her 55-year-old husband.
The Ras Al Khaimah Personal Status Court ordered the father to pay AED 227,500 (approx. BD 23,400) in annual child support alongside AED 31,000 (approx. BD 3,200) in one-off payments.
The ruling concluded a 12-year marriage that ended in divorce a second time within a few months.
The couple reconciled after their first divorce was finalised in May, but the wife filed for a second judicial divorce two months later in July.
The family comprises five boys and five girls aged between one and 13, alongside five older children aged between 18 and 31 from the husband's previous marriage living in the same home.
The mother cited years of emotional abuse, severe verbal humiliation and strict isolation from her family, including being barred from visiting her grieving mother after her brother's death.
She further alleged that her former husband denied her medical care following the birth of their tenth child and failed to fulfil his financial obligations and dowry payment.
